We
thank the Lord for all of you who, in many ways, have helped the IVCF
ministry here in the region. This school year 2002-2003, I propose that we
will focus on four important things. They are our thrusts for the
student ministry:
1.
Train more student leaders. If we
stop doing this, we will cease to exist. This is an important to ensure
continuity of the campus fellowships (2Tim. 2:2). So far, of the 13
chapters, 10 are in the pioneering stage. Our priority is to help our
chapters to move from pioneering groups into developing and eventually
establish ones (although if the Lord opens the door for us to pioneer we
should gladly welcome it as an opportunity).
The theme
of President Arroyo’s SONA is to have a stronger republic. We also
desire to have stronger campus fellowships. This requires more trained
students, which can be done through camps and conferences, local trainings,
ministry exposure, etc. I hope that we can send more students to our camps
and conferences. Let us intensify and strengthen our training of
student leaders. Some of them may become ISCF counselors, prime movers
of our GCF groups, GTs and full-time ministers when they graduate.
2.
Equip Staffworkers and Grad Team (GT) members.
Working directly among students & graduates is a challenging task.
All of us need to be equipped more in reaching out to them. As we aim to
produce quality student leaders we need to have quality trainors. Likewise,
part of equipping is providing the needed materials. We hope that this
school year all areas in the region will be provided with additional
materials for the different aspects of ministry (GCF, NCF, ISCF, IVCF).
3.
Create or revive, strengthen the Leaders’ Council. For areas that
have at least two campus chapters, I find the Leaders’ Council as crucial
in training more student leaders. Given our limited manpower, we will
be spreading thinly if we do the training at the campus level (except for
areas that has only one campus fellowship). We can have a concentrated
effort (with a multiplier effect) if we gather the present and potential
leaders. Through them, we can reach out to more students.
4.
Implement card-carrying membership. What we
have in the region last school year are regular attendees. We do not
have card-carrying members so we would like to move forward - implementing
our membership & formally affiliate our campus chapters to the National
Office. Hopefully the students will take seriously their involvement with
IVCF.
These
thrusts will serve as our guide. May we work hand-in-hand as we
evangelize & disciple students & graduates for the glory of God.
